Connectors with Slide-On Mating
If you need subminiature or microminiature coaxial connectors with a slide-on interface for low mating and unmating forces, then AEP slide-on connectors are ideal for you.

We can supply slide-on versions of any SMB, SSMB, or 75-ohm snap-on plug in our catalog. They will mate with standard snap-on jacks within their respective series; however, for applications requiring repeated mating cycles we recommend using slide-on jacks as well.

For rack-and panel applications with multiple connectors pairs, check out our vibration-proof float mount versions (click the text link or scroll down to the technical notes below).

Catalog information for float-mounted subminiature (SLB series) or microminiature (SSLB series) connectors is now available for download in Acrobat (pdf) format.

All are available with gold or nickel plating.

Call for a free copy of our catalog to see our wide variety of slide-on connectors.

We can make it even easier for you by supplying ready-made cable assemblies using our slide-on connectors and any appropriate flexible or semi-rigid cable, with configuration and testing to your specifications.

AEP's vibration-proof float mounted connectors use a tempered spring washer within the mounting system for reliable grounding between the connector and the panel under vibration. This system, combined with closed-end mating hoods and contacts, allows the connectors a wide range of float while mating without damage to the connectors.

The Truarc retaining ring (1) provides almost 360 degrees of contact with its retaining groove, compared to the 10 to 20 degrees of contact provided by C-rings or E-rings.

AEP's closed-entry mating end hood (2) and center contact (3) resist damage from misaligned mating connectors.

The spring washer (4) ensures consistent grounding under vibration.

 How the system works
Misaligned connectors press against the tapered hood during mating...

...and the hood guides the float-mounted connector into alignment for proper mating, while the spring washer deflects to accommodate the angular and radial movement with no loss of grounding.
